The Downtown Community Blues Basketball foundation has been in existence for over the past 51 years. The mission is to teach, develop, organize, manage and offer youth players the opportunity to learn and understand the fundamental skills of basketball while instilling life-lessons and values such as character, teamwork, discipline, respect, sportsmanship and most importantly accountability.
The most important facet of our existence is to promote the importance of a collegiate education by being a student athlete. In order to lay that foundation, we help all of our athletes access the required resources to excel in the classroom. We stress that academic success must be considered their #1 priority and then, allow basketball success to complement it.
As a non-profit organization, the Downtown Community Blues gets funding through various donations and fund raising efforts to help alleviate the cost of gym rental fees, equipment, local/out of town tournaments and special events.
